Tyrwhitt House is run by Combat Stress, a charity supporting armed forces veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Deep in the British countryside, Tyrwhitt House offers a safe environment away from what some veterans describe as 'the unpredictability of civilian life'. Group therapy, DIY, war stories, art classes, tea and camaraderie fill the days at the centre, where veterans can recharge for a couple of weeks every year.

The recent wars in Iraq and Afghanistan brought the issue of PTSD in soldiers to the fore but Tyrwhitt House was established some 100 years ago and has helped over 100,000 veterans deal with their demons. They often end up here after self-medication leads to drug or alcohol abuse and attempted suicides. They call it their lifeline.
