Silvia Boarini moved to London from Italy in 1995. After gaining a degree in Cultural Studies and Linguistics from Middlesex University, she worked in video and film productions in New York and Rome. She returned to London in 2001 and completed a PgDip in photojournalism at the London College of Communications in 2004. She has been working as a freelance photojournalist since 2005.

Her work has appeared in Narcomafie (Italy), Evening Standard, Sunday Mirror, Royal Photographic Society Journal, Label (Italy), British Journal of Photography, The Journalist, Daily Telegraph, You Magazine (Mail on Sunday), Peace Reporter, D di Repubblica ...

Her series Land of the Prickly Pears was shortlisted for the 'Tom Webster Award for Photojournalism' and commended at the 'International Picture Awards' in the student essay category. The 'Rag and Bone Man' essay was featured on BBC London.
